Blue Monday is the name given to the third Monday of January and it is the most depressing day of the year. You can make a difference to this day, for yourself and the people around you.
We never really know what is going on for the people around us; just because they ‘seem ok’ it doesn’t mean they actually feel ok. Take the opportunity to give the other humans around you, and yourself, a PowerBar boost – here are some ideas how.
Sooooo many people don’t feel appreciated. We assume they know we value what they do, but they don’t. It is a human need to feel like you are contributing and making a difference. Let them know how they make a difference to you.
Take the time to connect with someone and find out how things are going. Listening is the greatest gift you can give another human.
Yep! It really is that easy. Look them in the eye and make a genuine connection.
Recognise your Achievements
Think about what you did get done last week. Make a list. Take a look and recognise what you did achieve. This could include building a relationship, supporting someone, developing a better understanding of something, as well as the traditional ‘tasks’.
Give yourself permission to get an early night and a good night’s sleep. If you don’t get enough sleep you won’t feel OK. This is a simple way to make a huge difference to how you feel.
We often focus on what we don’t have. Take a moment to think about what you do have that you value. What do you like about your job? What do you like about your life? What do you have that you are glad to have? Who do you like having in your life? Feel a feeling of gratitude and see if you can spread that feeling through your being.
Be kind to yourself.
